Happy Halloween – Bast Goddess

I know that Halloween is a time for everyone to dress up as big bad oogie boogies but this year I thought I would do something a little different.  Egypt has always been a favored study of mine, right down to traveling to Egypt once and dancing for the Prince.  My experiences there have always been utterly amazing, so this year for Halloween I thought I would do a small tribute to the Bast Goddess.

Bast (Bastet, Pasch, Ubasti, Ba en Aset) – Daughter of the sun god Ra, wife of Ptah, and mother of Mihos, Bast is an ancient Egyptian goddess who is still greatly revered by many today. Her worship began around the year 3200 BCE during the second dynasty in northern Egypt and her city is Bubastis. There, and in many other ancient cities, Egyptians celebrated Bast’s feast day, October 31st, with great joy and enthusiasm honouring their goddess, their protectress. Related to Neith, the Night Goddess, Bast symbolized the moon in its function of making a woman fruitful, with swelling womb. She was also the Egyptian Goddess of pleasure, music, dancing and joy, and associated with the Eye of Ra, acting as the instrument of the Sun God’s vengeance.

Something Incredibly Wicked…

While I am not one to show off my naughty bits in a public posting – I had to make an exception for this perfectly tantalizing piece of lingerie from Blacklace.  The little number was found on my Taste of SL shopping list on Sunday and knew I had to blog about it.  The lacy details are amazingly drawn and I loved every last piece other than the stockings.  When I put them on, there was black bleeding upon the upper thigh.  I didn’t take a photo of that but simply removed them and it still was a complete and adorable piece.

I showed my “Other Half” the completed photos and he agreed that it was a terrific piece.  Needless to say it did not remain on very long after the photos were shot!

Steampunk Diva

When I shot these photographs I half expected for some dark shadowy figure to come out of the shadows and scare the living bejebus out of me.  Something about the dark victorian look always brings about visions of Jack The Ripper.  And I have no idea why people tell me I watch too many horror movies.  I say to them…Tis The Season!

This stunning Steampunk Diva dress is perfectly designed and was exactly what I needed and when I found it last week.  VNP Ninetails was offering it at her shop Vassnia for 50% off the regular price.  When I went to grab the SLURL, I noticed that it is still on sale so be sure to grab it now.  I couldn’t resist.  I will say this though…other than this gown having a Victorian flare, there is absolutely nothing about it that is Steampunk-ish.  The details are amazing and come with the choker and shoes.

Concrete Angel

Awhile back I made a promise to focus a bit more on accessories and I have done just that.  I am by no means a fashion accessory whore as I have always stuck to the theory that less is more. However, there are many times that I come across something that catches my attention and I simply MUST have it.

Much was the case for this up and coming look.  Notice the face chain?  I originally saw this on Second Life’s Marketplace and wanted it badly but I suspected that it would be a pain in the rear end to adjust to fit my custom shape.  I never have much luck with piercings and such, even when I do tons of modifications.

My impulse shopping won out and I found this in my shopping cart and I just have to say that I was beyond impressed that the moment I put it on, it fit!  No adjustments what-so-ever!

Granted I now want to wear it with everything and it just doesn’t work with most looks but throw me in a urban environment, let out my ebon wings and this is what you get!

The Fallen

Okay, I will be the first to admit that I am a horrible Blogger!  It’s been six days since my last post…..whoa stop!  This is starting to sound like a sunday morning church confession.  In truth is kind of is.  I have discovered this amazing new place and I want to share it all with you!

As many of you are aware, Second Life is littered with tons of roleplaying locations.  From Medieval Fantasy to Post-Apocalypitc Urban Sims.  Some of these sims only allow for human’s while others host a myriad of other creatures.  Well I am about to tell you of one more.  However, this time the news is good.  A brand new roleplaying sim that is called The Fallen.  Owned by Dominic Darkmatter and put together by himself and his wonderful creative team.  Beware though…you will find yourself in a mix of Vampires, Angels, Demons, Lycan, Mages and more!  Everyone has been amazing and if roleplaying just so happens to be your thing, contact Dominic Darkmatter today for more information or stop by the sim for yourself and take a look around.  I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

This is what has inspired this new, darker look I am wearing today and just in time for spooky Halloween.  Imagine the dark corners of a desolate street, the cold chill washing over your body, and the howls of creatures echoing within the nights fog.  I know that it definitely entices the darker side of my personality.

I am sorry that I have been slow in getting some of my favorite fashions blogged for all of you.  Real life has been kicking my behind and I have been wrapped up in a whirlwind known as life but I promise to be better.  My new goal….at least one post a day for this entire month of October!

War Kiss

I am thoroughly addicted to shopping lists.  Moody Mondays, $25 Tuesdays, Fifty Linden Fridays…..the lists go on and on and on.  I can go weeks without doing any other shopping and have often thought about putting together outfits based solely on these lists but I would be hard pressed to do more than one post a week.  What I do love about these lists it that all too often I can pick up an amazing little piece and eventually use it somewhere down the line.

That is exactly the case with this little outfit.  Months ago I picked up this darling Skull Bowl called “War Kiss” from DECO.  I never even tried the demo but knew I had to have it.  Well the only problem with this is while granted it is pink (My Fav. Color) it just does not go with my classic every day chinadoll look.

So my personal challenge today was to find something I can wear it with.  Typical jeans or a summery dress was not going to cut it so I went over to Delirium Style and found exactly what I was looking for!

So don’t let a good bargain go when you find it, because I am telling you, eventually you WILL need it!

Pretty Bald In Pink

Today I came across a photo campaign that will be taking place from October 1 – October 31. Pretty Bald in Pink.  As you guessed, Cancer Awareness.

Some of you that know me know how truly deep this touches me.  Those of you who do not know me, I have battled cancer for a great many years and there have even been moments that I have beat it.  On September 11th I had stomach surgery to repair the lining of my stomach but while they were fixing what had clearly been broke, they also removed a new tumor from my stomach.  The cancer is back.

I fret telling anyone, especially my family, as they have been through so much and I truly believe that the family and friends suffer more than the patient themselves.  However, this has given me the strength and courage to sit down and say to them….get ready….we are about to go through this together, yet again.

The best advice I can give to anyone that may currently be going through this…is simply surround yourself in:

HOPE – FAITH – COURAGE – LOVE

Have you ever just went roaming around Second Life and avatar-watched?  I have!  In fact, I did this very thing this morning and I was particularly shocked at some of the stuff that I have seen.  If you all knew me, you would laugh and say that this is no easy task.  Truth is, I would agree.  I have seen and done and been just about everything on can imagine in SL.

What got me today is the countless number of women (and some men) that run around with next to nothing on.  Butt-a-Showing and Boobs-a-Bouncing if I may coin a phrase.  Slaves in their silks, gungy little half-naked Emo Elves, and we can not forget the proverbial Escorts and Strippers.  It is a joke around my house when one of my Brothers is playing a video game and you see a female warrior with the top level armor on and what does it cover?  Her nipples and knees!

This is why I love the the Autumn and Winter months!  I know… I know… our avatars can not feel the elements that are quickly coming upon us but do you want to be stuck in a snowy sim or skiing down the slopes in nothing more than a bikini and what I call coochie-cutters?  Cover it up ladies!  Leave a little to the imagination!
